Kathrin Werner is an
artist who loves creating whimsical illustrations, which are often humorous. Favorite subject is animals. She lives with her family in Stuttgart, Germany.

WHY I DRAW:

I have been drawing a lot since being a child but there have been breaks when other things captured my attention.

Seven years ago during a longer stay in the hospital, drawing saved me from boredom. Since then making art has become more important for me. My illustrations often involve whimsical animals. These animals do all kind of things they are not meant to do. Like wearing huts and shoes or playing guitar. They are kind of denying their physical limitations. And I like to find a little story (often humorous) that goes with the drawing.

Also I love drawing on the spot and during traveling as a visual diary. So I am always carrying a little sketchbook with me. I find I need to write down any fun idea before it gets lost.
