A Difficult Career Choice

It is quite a long time that I have not posted anything. I have been drawing a lot in the last months but less fun stuff. But with the new year new ideas have come up, so I hope to post more regular again.

I am back

cham_oilpastel I have been silent for a rather long time - there are three reasons: holidays, too much to do and I rediscovererd oilpastels. They are wonderful to use on black paper and I just keep coming back on them. It is different from what I usually post here. They probably won't make you smile but I hope you like them

You can see more of them if you follow me instagram , as I am participating in a challenge (#the100dayproject), where I am doing 100 animals.

Threadfish - Fadenfisch

feb12_fadenfischWZ Here we have the situation, that the english threadfish is another species or group of species than his German namesake (which is called gourami in English). The threadfish  (genus Alectis), also called diamond trevallies, are large powerful fish livin in reefs. Their name cames from their elongated filamentous dorsal fins the juveniles have.

I owe you two apologies: First to my email -followers, for resending an email of a contribution which was sent already some days ago (pressed too much buttons, this won't happen again).  The second, that you still see advertisements on this blog. But the good news is, I am planning to have a proper website soon, so no more ads once the website is set up.

Engelfisch - Angelfish

maerz_7__engelfischWZ.jpg Angelfish: Marine angelfish are very colorful and live in tropical waters. Young angelfish undergo a strong shift in coloration when growing mature. They can be eaten and seem to be often found at tropical fishmarkets I have not found any hints why they are called angelfish. But wikipedia does warn us not to confuse the marine angelfish with the freswather angelfish, which live in rivers in tropical South America. So don't eat the wrong one...

Dali Moustaches

I am following a year long class with Carla Sonheim where we go through the alphabet and getting lots of inspiring assigments. D was for Doodling around sketches from Dali portraits - here is one of them (I had to let the chicken look back on him). feb23_dali_huhn

After a few  sketches of Dali with his famous moustache, I started seeing mustache shapes everywhere, so I had some fun doing this sketch.

A warmhearted farewell

feb8_benni_abschiedWZ.jpg Benny was happy because he embarked on his world tour. They did not admit, but the other crocodiles were happy too, because they got rid of this guy and his strange ideas - in a peaceful way.

I have been doodlewashed

You have what? you may ask. Ok, it means that I had a guestblog at doodlewash.com, where Charlie o' Shields gave me the opportunity to show some of my drawings and tell a bit about my drawing process. So you are welcome to have a look over there. And if you don't know Charlies blog: Charlie is doing awesome watercolor drawings, combined with some interesting and amusing talk - daily! He also has a wonderful concept of having guestblogs from artists all over the world. And you have to find out what "doodlewash" means - so make sure to check it out.

For not leaving you with words only: here is a drawing from February, which developed from random water color marks on the page:
